When IFF new Global Business Services (GBS) hub in Hyderabad was envisioned, the goal was to create more than a workplace—it was to build a space that brings its purpose to life. Spanning a generous 75,000 square feet and designed to host up to 600 employees, the centre unites business development, finance, IT, and shared service teams under one roof. Conceived as an innovation anchor for the region, it moves beyond traditional back-office functions to foster collaboration, agility, and growth. Every design choice- from zoning to materiality, was shaped to reflect IFF’s unique balance of imagination and science, transforming its culture and innovation ethos into a tangible experience. The result is a workplace that nurtures well-being, connection, and a shared sense of belonging. In a world where workplace culture matters more than ever, IFF is leading the way, creating spaces that resonate with their purpose and transform how their teams connect and collaborate.
At IFF, flavour creation extends far beyond taste. Rooted in layered sensory perception, this philosophy became the starting point for the workplace design. The resulting concept of a Sensescape reimagines the office as a spatial journey through a series of distinct yet interconnected environments. Conceived as a journey beyond flavours, the workplace immerses users in a full sensory experience. As one moves through the space, the Sensescape unfolds gradually, evoking memories, emotions, and associations with specific places and moments.
Moving away from the conventional office layout, the workplace unfolds as a sequence of landscapes that shape how people move, interact, and experience the space. Each environment forms part of a larger spatial narrative, guiding users through distinct settings that support different modes of work:
Ocean : Anchors the arrival experience, bringing together the reception and café as vibrant social spaces
Islands : Collaborative zones that encourage spontaneous exchange and teamwork.
Oasis : Agile areas designed for quick discussions, stand-up meetings, and informal interactions.

The experience of the Sensescape begins at a dynamic central core that anchors the workplace. A large green wall further defines this space, introducing a strong biophilic presence at the heart of the workplace. Acting as both a visual landmark and a calming natural element, it reinforces the sensory character of the environment while setting the tone for the journey that unfolds beyond.
This arrival zone houses the main reception and features a striking internal staircase that connects the two primary floors. More than a circulation element, the staircase serves as a sculptural centrepiece, seamlessly integrating seating and subtly reinforcing the brand identity. It establishes a strong visual and spatial link across the facility, creating a multifunctional, memorable, and engaging entry experience.
From this central node, the workplace branches outward into its various functional zones. The staircase becomes a key connective element, linking amenities, collaborative areas, workspaces, and meeting rooms across both levels. Circulation paths radiate from the core, creating intuitive movement throughout the office while maintaining visual continuity between spaces.
The circulation strategy is designed to create an inclusive and intuitive workplace experience for both local and global employees. While resident teams have access to the full range of amenities across the facility, movement for global employees is thoughtfully guided toward shared zones such as collaborative areas, work lounges, and social spaces. This ensures that everyone engaging with the workplace can easily access key amenities and participate in the social and collaborative life of the office. By structuring circulation in this way, the design balances operational efficiency with inclusivity, creating a workplace where all employees can navigate the environment comfortably and enjoy a seamless, engaging experience.
Positioned along the primary arrival sequence and directly connected to the central reception, the Experience Center forms an important extension of the workplace narrative. Conceived as a dedicated space for showcasing innovation, it provides a platform where the organization’s global portfolio can be shared, explored, and experienced. Equipped with advanced audiovisual capabilities, the space supports interactive demonstrations, presentations, and product launches that connect teams across geographies. Its flexible design allows it to function both as a collaborative engagement space and as a setting for curated displays.
Beyond its technical role, the Experience Center also serves as a cultural touchpoint within the workplace. Products and innovations are thoughtfully showcased, allowing employees to engage with the breadth of the company’s work in a tangible way.
